Repentance and first steps for newly converted

Repentance and first steps for newly converted

Beloved, today I would like to address a glorious subject, ie repentance.
Before we start, let us try to see what repentance means:

This is to recognize that we are sinful in frot of God, and ask His forgiveness and grace to save us. This rescue is possible only through His son Jesus Christ whom He has delegated all authority on earth and in heaven. For this, we must accept that Jesus is the son of God, that He died to save us and rose again. He will return.

Let us see these verses:

John 3
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

If after reading articles on this site or elsewhere, after hearing testimonies, after meditating or if any circumstances led you to come to God through His son and our unique Savior Jesus Christ, I can assure you one hundred percent that you did the best decision that can exist in the life of a person. Congratulattions! You are son of God. No matter where you come from, what matters is that you come to Jesus.

Let us read this verse:

John 6
44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.

Jesus said that no one can come to him without first being called by His Father, God.
And believe me, if God sent you to Christ today, please note this glorious day. A grace to you and a joy for all disciples and even in heaven there is joy for that. Read this verse:

Luke 15
7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

You see what effect you raise by deciding to repent? The joy in heaven. I can assure you of my full satisfaction and my availability to assist you.

You may be wondering about the way to start? It’s not complicated, you can pray for repentance, a prayer like the one I propose, in your own words:

  • God my Father who is in heaven,
  • I recognize my sins and I know that I deserve to pay for it.
  • I need your forgiveness, not because I deserve it, but by your grace and mercy.
  • I believe in Jesus Christ your unique son who died on the cross and rose again to save me.
  • Thank you Lord for saving me and forgiven me, guide me in walking with you in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!

1 John 1
8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Let’s see this example of repentance from King David:

Psalm 51
1 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.
5 Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
6 Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place.
7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
8 Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
9 Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity.
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you.
14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, you who are God my Savior, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.

Once you have repented, you will need to seek to know our God and our Lord Jesus Christ better.
We must seek and start reading the Bible to understand the divine words. There are several versions, on paper or electronical one on the web. Some offer downloading option. There is also for iPhone and Android, very convenient.

The order in which the Bible is written is fine,  first read Genesis and after you can also go to the New Testament after reading Genesis if you find it difficult to continue, beeing beginner. Read the Gospels of John or the others.

You also need to learn how to pray. By praying we talk to God directly in the name of his unique son Jesus Christ. We can pray God for everything we need, with good faith. He knows our needs before we did. We can even ask Him to teach us to pray, by inspiration.

Here is the prayer that every Christian should know, It is from our Lord Jesus:

Matthew 6
9 This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come, your will be done,on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Read this great promise from our Lord:

John 14
13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Another step is to find a church, for that you need to ask, you must also pray and ask Jesus to direct you to His Church or to one of His servants. Once you found a church, try to meet with the pastor or other church member to introduce and to be guided one your new life and plan to get baptised. You can also send a prayer to God to direct you to someone who is able to baptize. By faith and after the baptism of water, you will receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit from the Lord.

Note that not all churchs are from God. Satan also disguised himself as God to fool his victims.

2 Corinthians 11
14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

Acts 4
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

Example of non-Biblical practices:

  • Avoid churches that invok other names than Jesus Christ. All prayer, praise and worship must be made in the name of Jesus Christ and him alone (not Mary or others).
  • Also avoid churches that make use of the cross, including as a logo Or any other satanic symbol. The cross is an idol, and nowhere in the Bible there is mention of its use by the disciples of God.
  • Avoid churches that do not recognize the five Ministries of the body of Christ (Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Doctor / Teacher).
  • Do not let anyone take your money every time. The offerings to the Lord must be voluntary. The tithe is 10% of our income per period.

Exodus 20
4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

In case of  need, I can organize to baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The baptism must be done by total immersion in water such as in a swimming pool or a river.

The anointing that I received from the Lord allows me to baptize and to make disciples of Jesus Christ. All you need is to believe in Jesus Christ.

Acts 8
36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?”
37 Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” The eunuch answered, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”
38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him.

Acts 2
36 “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”
37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

It’s as simple as that. Beeing disciple of Jesus does not ask things beyond our capacity but it gives us something beyond our own means. Some days or months later, we will live transformations in our lives, for the Lord is with us.

It is necessary to forgive all those who trespass against us. On this point, some people find it difficult. But in case of difficulty, you can always pray God to help you forgive those who hurt us deeply.

Read what our Lord says:

Matthew 6
14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

An equally important step is to forget the past and stop feeling guilty, because God forgives sins related to our previous life. We live new life like newborns.

Read the prophet Micah:

Micah 7
18 Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.

And read Apostle Paul:

2 Corinthians 5
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation

After all this, it is fair to say that repentance is within the reach of everyone.

Subsequently, seek to grow spiritually, never yielding to frequent temptations of the Devil and learn how to chooseyour friends, in Christ.

Matthew 7
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

If you Face anything that is beyond you, pray the Lord and He will help you. Do not wait till you fall!

Ephesians 6
11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
