Women can serve God, it is even a duty
Beloved, dear brothers and sisters, today’s message is about a subject that causes a lot of differences.
I was inspired to make a few points that might illuminate some people on the role of women for the Glory of the Lord.
Let as read a few verses:
4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
20 Fear the Lord your God and serve him. Hold fast to him and take your oaths in his name.
These commandments are not new, but since the time people of God left Egypt for the Promised Land, under the leadership of Moses.
I started with these two passages which show that women also are called to serve the Lord.
What you must understand is that we can serve God in different ways and not all the ways are common to both genders. I mean only man can render some kind of services to God, and vice versa.
Bible mentions at multiple places where women have worked for the Lord, from the Old Testament to the New one.
Let see these verses from the Old Testament:
20 Then Miriam the prophet, Aaron’s sister, took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her, with timbrels and dancing.
21 Miriam sang to them: “Sing to the Lord, for he is highly exalted. Both horse and driver he has hurled into the sea.”
This is Mary the sister of Aaron, with whom she has accompanied and helped their brother Moses in his ministry. We see that she has been also a prophetess.
Then we had the judge and prophetess Deborah, and Hulda.
3 Because he had nine hundred chariots fitted with iron and had cruelly oppressed the Israelites for twenty years, they cried to the Lord for help.
4 Now Deborah, a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time.
In the New Testament also there was prophetess like Anne, daughters of Philip the evangelist quoted in Acts 21: 9, and others.
It is obvious that the Mother of the Lord has served God and of course Jesus Christ, his Son.
28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.
38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

36 There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage,
37 and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying.
38 Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.
Anne prophesied, she did exhortation, announced the Gospel, so she evangelize.
See also these verses:
The Samaritan, who met the Lord and went to testify to his fellow citizens, many of them believed and accepted Jesus.
28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people,
29 “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?”
30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him.
39 Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.”
The two sisters Martha and Mary, sisters of Lazarus, served the Lord throughout his ministry.
2 Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him.
3 Then Mary took about a pint[a] of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
Beloved, I think that these verses do not need to be detailed than they are.
In the following passages, we see that women was loyal to God even in the most difficult moments such as walking to Golgotha, during the crucifixion and until to the grave. It is a woman who was the first to see the Lord resurrected .
There is no reason to exclude woman as Jesus Christ Himself left them work for Him.
1 After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him,
2 and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out;
3 Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod’s household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means.
On the way to Golgotha:
26 As the soldiers led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus.
27 A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him.
At the cross, and then to the cemetery:
54 When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”
55 Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs.
59 Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
60 and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away.
61 Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb.
Read this message from the Lord:
37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.
38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
Should we completely exclude our sisters workers, absolutely not!
However, the tree should not hide the forest. Woman must serve God by remaining subject to men. They should not teach or preach in a mixed assembly of disciples of Christ.
Let us see some verses:
1 Timothy 2
12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.
13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve.
14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.
3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.
4 Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children,
5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
Ppostle Paul does not send woman stay hom, he did quite the contrary. There are many sites for the work of the Lord, read this:
2 I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord.
3 Yes, and I ask you, my true companion, help these women since they have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life.
Let’s see what God says about the last time.
28 “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.
29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
1 Corinthians 12
7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,
9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,
10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
Is not it a lot of work!
Now see where the confusion might lie for some:
11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers,..
Those who know what these ministries mean can understand that being an apostle, pastor or teacher (teaching, preaching) request authority. So woman should not exercise them. God does not give her the anointing. Practicing any ministry without God’s call is to serve Satan, because God is not there.
God does not contradict himself.
22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”
13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
14 So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, “Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.
15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”
16 To the woman he said, “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.”
17 To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ “Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life.
18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field.
19 By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”
Everybody has had his share of punishment according to the divine verdict, because of the common sin and the decision of God is still valid.
Do not the snake walk on its belly? Does the woman has no pain in giving birth? does not man earn his bread by working hard?
18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
This passage shows that the woman is a help, a supplement for man. This means that a man without woman is incomplete.
One can easily understand that servants of God must be helped by their wives. But women must in no way take their place or represent them, even when they are absent from the Church.
In a couple, if one of them is called for a ministtry, both are anointed to be complementary because they have to work together, the man must be master of the house and the ministry.
22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
1 Peter 3
7 Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
Myself I did pray and ask the Lord about this matter and He answered me in three ways.
- The first time I was inspired to write the article, and I the verses I was given were those from the Epistles.
- The second time, The Lord told me that women can not resist certain types of attacks from the Devil. They are more vulnerable than men.
- The third time, after I prayed, I was told in a dream that the woman can not be a pastor, but she can be a “coordinator”.
You have the prophecy, the Gospel and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. You can can serve God with this, even in Church, in a mixed assembly.
Why do you want to preach or teach at all costs, lead and put man in a submissive position, something that is contrary to the will of God you claim to serve?
I hope to enlighten some people through this article.
Finally, I wish Happy 2016 to all and especially to our mothers, wives, sisters and daughters.
God bless you in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!
Servant of Jesus Christ.
